Summer is here before winter starts!

It is already 72 degrees at 11:00am! We will probably hit 80 degrees today.

Our vines have been pruned and are waiting for bud break. The daffodils are up, and the mustard has already been in the fields for a month. All the flowering trees are beautiful.

We have had very little rain, and they are even forecasting fire danger with strong winds in the next few days. So far, we are off to another strange weather year!

A couple of Tympany updates:

1) We are currently working on scheduling our 2009 bottling and we may bottle a few cases of magnums.

2) We will be releasing our 2008 this spring. Release date to follow.

We hope everyone survived Fat Tuesday!

Happy Holidays!

We have been having such beautiful weather this December! Cold nights, but warm sunny afternoons. I know we need the rain, but it’s hard not to love the sunshine!

The vines are resting, saving energy for next Spring.

Take a look at our latest fan comment. We are so excited to get such a response from a local expert!

Louis & I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday, & a fabulous 2012!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The weather has turned cool & the fall colors are incredible this year! No need to make the trip to the North East. A drive through the Healdsburg countryside will more than suffice!

It’s hard to believe it’s Thanksgiving on Thursday. The year has flown by. Louis & I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all of you for supporting our first release. We are honored that you chose our wine.

A reminder to place your order for Christmas by Friday, December 9th to ensure delivery.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sugars are at 25

We are harvesting in the morning. Start time 6:30am!

Rain & Raccoons!

Well, we went from Mid 90’s to rain. No need to check the Brix, as the rain will drop the sugar. Now, we just wait for the sun & heat to return.

In the meantime, I have a new job as a Raccoon Relocation Specialist! I have trapped three so far. Then I load the trap into the back of the SUV & drive into the country & release them. They are so cute! They bolt out of the cage ,but then stop, turn around & look at me as if they are thanking me. Then they scurry into the wilderness.

Actually, one just looked at me when I opened the cage door. I looked down at her and said, “Go on, your Brother ran that way yesterday”. She looked out of the cage, back at me, & then sauntered out of the cage about 3 feet. Then she stopped & looked at me one last time before she ran up a tree.

Brix @ 23

The sugars are up to 23 due to the hot summer weather we are finally getting now that it’s officially fall. Although the berries are tasting good, the seeds are still a little green, so we are still looking at about 10 days until harvest.

Brix 21.

I tested the sugar again Saturday, and the average was 21. Now that it is almost Fall, we are finally getting hot weather. It hit 98 degrees yesterday, and it’s already hot this morning!

We also discovered raccoons love our berries. We caught a second one overnight. He will get a road trip to the countryside to be released back into the wild.

19 Brix

I tested the sugars on Friday to begin our baseline. The average was 19. I will be checking it once a week for the next several weeks, but due to the foggy, cool summer, it appears we may not be harvesting until mid October this year. Of course I had to sample the berries while I was testing the sugar, and they were tasting yummy! The sun did not break through the fog yesterday until 6:00pm! Today was much better, as the sun made it’s appearance by 10:30am.

Verasion has begun!

While the rest of the country has been suffering through heat waves, we have been experiencing a cool summer. In fact, this morning was the first day I remember in quite some time where the fog burned off in the early morning. I was very happy to see that a few of the grape bunches have started verasion! I was beginning to wonder if the grapes would have enough sun and heat to ripen this year!

Pulling weeds

I just finished pulling weeds by hand. Four rows done. Too many too count left. Believe it or not, they are forecasting rain for the morning! I don’t remember ever having rain in June! 2011 is turning out to be a very interesting year for weather.

Louis & I will be tasting our 2009 & 2010 out of barrels in a few weeks. Depending on what we taste, we could be scheduling the 2009 for bottling soon.

We have been shipping the 2007 out by the cases. Thank you to all that have placed your orders!

It’s been great hearing the comments about how much you are enjoying it!
